The reason behind that lack of trust comes is because CEOs often don’t believe that the CMOs (and their organizations) understand the real goals and challenges of the business. There is also a disconnect because so much of digital seems like it should be trackable, but we are not always tracking the right things or the right outcomes.
As marketers, we have to learn to measure not just what WE think is valuable but also what is valuable to the CEO and others in the organization and prove the value of marketing’s contributions.
